Duplicate entries in a Built Index or on Index Tagger panel

If you are seeing duplicate levels in an index that Index Builder produced, or if you are seeing duplicate entries in a list on the Index Tagger panel, check to see if any of the duplicate levels or entries contain extra whitespace characters, such as a word space.

If content has been tagged with an Index Builder entry that contains, for example, a trailing word space (such as "Software ") and if other content has been tagged with a similar Index Builder entry that does not include a trailing space (such as "Software"), Index Builder will treat these as unique index levels when building an index.

For instructions to change which Index Builder entries are assigned to content in a document and for instructions to edit the entries that the Index Tagger panel displays, please see the Index Builder manual, available in DesignMerge Catalog Documentation
