Tips when installing a new version of Meadows software

Solution

Instructions to install an UPDATE vs to install an UPGRADE differ. If you should have any questions about this information or encounter any problems in following these instructions, please open a Support Ticket on the Meadows Help Desk

An UPDATE is a new version of the software that you will install in the same version of Adobe InDesign where your previous version is currently installed. NOTE: If you are installing the new version in the same version of Adobe InDesign but on a different system, remember to deactivate your current installation. Then, follow the instructions provided for an UPGRADE since you will be installing the software for the very first time in a copy of InDesign. 

An UPGRADE is a new version of the software for a new version of Adobe InDesign where you have not yet installed this Meadows software. 
 

TO INSTALL AN UPDATE:

1) Quit InDesign if it is running. 

2) Run the installer. Follow the prompts, choosing appropriate options for your software order. For more detailed instructions, see the Installation document that is provided with the installer.

3) Start InDesign. When prompted, enter Name, Company, and Activation/Order Code which you received in an email message from Meadows. 

4) If you should see any errors or warnings while attempting to activate the software, take a screenshot of the error/warning and then open a Support Ticket to request assistance. After you have entered a message in your ticket, you can click Attach File to attach the screenshot. Additionally, remember to include your Activation/Order Code in the message of your ticket. 

5) If you did not encounter any errors or warnings, your software should be ready for you to use it. 

 

TO INSTALL AN UPGRADE: 

INSTALL THE SOFTWARE

1) Quit InDesign if it is running. NOTE: If you are installing the upgrade on a different system than where your earlier version is installed, you must first deactivate the installation of your earlier version. For instructions, see the "How do I deactivate my Meadows software?" Knowledgebase Article.

2) Run the installer. Follow the prompts, choosing appropriate options for your software order. For more detailed instructions, see the Installation document that is provided with the installer.

3) Start InDesign. When prompted, enter Name, Company, and Activation/Order Code which you received in an email message from Meadows. 

4) If you should see any errors or warnings while attempting to activate the software, take a screenshot of the error/warning and then open a Support Ticket to request assistance. After you have entered a message in your ticket, you can click Attach File to attach the screenshot. Additionally, remember to include your Activation/Order Code in the message of your ticket. 

5) If you did not encounter any errors or warnings, your software should be ready for you to use it. Next, you may prefer to add configuration information that already exists in your previous installation (in the older version of InDesign). To do this, continue with the information provided here. Otherwise, you have finished installing the Upgrade.

ABOUT MEADOWS INDEX BUILDER™ SOFTWARE

 

Index Builder is a software module for Adobe InDesign that provides a very powerful set of tools for creating catalog indexes. Unlike standard indexing products, MPS Index Builder was designed to serve the special needs of catalogers, with a number of unique features that make the product ideal for catalog workflows.

You may use Index Builder to automate building both Product and Manufacturer Indexes. Index entries can be up to four levels deep and can be attached to any box or group of boxes (“Product Block”) in your catalog pages. Each tagged box or group can contain up to 10 distinct entries, and the entries are permanently stored with the document content.
